Yeah, I would echo the sentiments in that article exactly.
However, that is just for the main Android Marketplace. I also have the game on the Amazon Appstore, where it does much better. Amazon screens apps like Apple does, and they have only let a few thousand apps into their store so far. Grisly Manor has been one of their top selling apps, making it as high as #3 in overall paid apps.
In addition to the paid sales, Grisly Manor was selected as an Amazon free app of the day, where it generated 102,000 downloads. No money of course, but that greatly increases the install base. I have also received hundreds of emails from that promotion with people excited to buy the next game.
Grisly Manor is also available on the NOOKcolor, which is essentially an Android tablet too. They are even more restrictive about what they let on their device, having only approved 150 apps so far. Sales of the game on the NOOKcolor, if they continue at their current rate for a while, will outpace even the iOS sales.
I also have some other deals going on that could increase sales as well.
All in all it is way more difficult to support Android devices, but it has been worth it for me so far.
I wonder how many Nook games they receive to review, and what percentage are accepted. Great work Joe! I'm still waiting for your next game too, and I replayed yours on the Nook!
