In case you didn't hear, for today only, Sword & Sorcery for the iPhone is only $.99 and $1.99 for the iPad. Also, you can get the soundtrack for free on iTunes or with a donation if you are feeling generous. Just thought I would let you guys know about it since it is a very inspiring game. I just picked up my copy today - glad I waited cuz I was going to pay full price a few days ago : )

I picked this up at launch - haven't had the chance to play it yet.

What I *am* playing is Galaga 30th Collection - It's free, and you get Galaxian, then it's IAPs.

I spent the full £5 and got Galaga, Galaga 88, and Galapus.

Seriously, if you're into Retro at all, these are awesome remakes!

    QS :D

QS, I think you may be the only person I've heard not completely rip apart the Galaga 30th Collection. All I've read is negative reviews about the games and complaints about the 130 meg intro movie. :[

@QS: I saw those at E3, and purchased a few days ago! Great set of games, and adore Galaga! :)

The movie is not the games! I agree, not having it there would make no difference to the package.

Personally I enjoyed it as it's essentially what my imagination was doing while playing Galaxian/Galaga in the arcades all those years ago! Would have been better as the trailer though, eh?

As to the games - I hadn't realised they'd been 'remixed'. All the games have been given that 'reloading ammo bar' mechanic which I think helps Galaxian a lot, but hinders Galaga a bit.

Either way, it does make you pick your 'hammer the fire button moments', which is a clever mechanic to add.

Other than that, it looks wonderful - a mix of retro and neon glows and stuff - and it plays beautifully.

I'm playing it on iPad - not sure if that would make a lot of difference. But it just 'feels' right - they've got the nostalgia mixed with the new spot on I think.

yes i couldn't play Galaxian too... I guess it's for real hardcore retrofan who play the game when they are younger...

didn't meant o hijack the thread to talk about something else.

Started playing sword and sorcery yesterday. Seems really good so far. Exactly the kind of adventure game I've been wanting to play on the iphone.

Downloaded Sword & Sworcery EP Micro some hours ago & I'm really looking forward to play this game! :-)
By the way: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing (Game Center, OpenFeint) is now in the App Store in New Zealand. I'll buy it as soon as it's available in Europe, as I really liked the Wii version.
