White background to show colors only when an actor is moving infront of it
Hi. I'm making a sidescrolling iPhone game about an aging rockstar. I'm thinking about using hand drawn backgrounds with a hidden colored replica. Idea is that a spotlight (an actor made up of a white circle) follows my main actor and when that spotlight shines on the background, only that part of the screen shows colors and rest remains dimly lit and colorless. Any ideas on how that's possible? Thanks.

What it does is that the layer with flahlight effect follows main player. Mine is a little bit different, think of it as masking effect. My colored background layer is immovable and inside my spotlight actor. So when i move my spotlight actor, only that part which is inside my spotlight actor (which in this case is a circle), shows up and rest remains transparent. This way my background will still look like its hand drawn while colored effect will only show around my main character. I hope im making sense. Thanks.
I'm new to gamesalad myself and to behonest I would ask one of the other members. I know the exactly what you want to achieve and could make it in photoshop but not in gamesalad. Really sorry I can't help you out, hopefully with a bit more practice I will have the skills to help others on the forum.
