My Opinion on Debates

I've always hated the Mac vs PC debate. No computer is better, it really matters on which you prefer. I've used both the PC and Mac, and I prefer the Mac. That a reason to hate me? No. I admit that both computers are good for their own things. PC is better for gaming and Mac is better for multimedia.

In fact, I pretty much hate all debates. Why argue over PERSONAL OPINIONS!? What's the deal with all the hate? Why don't we just get on with our lives and stop arguing over absolutely nothing? People are different and will always think differently from others. Opinions can't win over opinions. Debates are just a waste of time.

This is just my opinion, so no need to flame. This topic was made to get my point across. That is all.

Sad fact that it is human nature to do this kind of stuff, but especially when your safe behind your computer screen...annoys me when people wouldn't say something in real life but when on a youtube video will go crazy and go on about how strong they are....

Couldn't agree more with you overall!

    Cheers.

I have mac and pc both. I am using pc since 15 years and used more then 7-8 antivirus. And I have facing lots of virus problems on pc. While using mac I dont care about virus. And graphics wise its better then pc so I prefer mac.

As long as there are two alternatives, there will be at least seven different opinions (or possibly 15).

is it too late to add a poll to see who likes debates and who doesn't....

then we can discuss it.... :-)

A poll would be good if it doesn't end up becoming a debate. Debating over debating...hmm...

I have 2 Macs and 1 PC that I use on a regular basis. Although in our house PCs outnumber the Macs 8 to 2. As far as my preference, I love them both! There are certain things I would ONLY do on a PC and their are others I would ONLY do on a Mac. It really just depends on what your needs are. The fact that their is SOOO much more available software for the PC is one huge advantage they have over the Mac. But the more you look at the software already on the Mac, it just seems like Apple has thought of almost everything. I don't see the need for a huge debate on this issue considering it is mainly what you need your computer for.

Anybody here read Death By Meeting by Patrick Lencioni? Awesome book. Basically: Conflict and drama are what make meetings, movies, and online forums interesting and productive.

To a certain extent, you are correct, and I would agree. But their comes a point when enough is enough and mountains get made out of mole hills.

The way I see it, conversation groups into 5 things:
    1) Debates and Arguments
    2) Stories, explanations, excuses, etc.
    3) Lies
    4) Jokes
And finally, 5) Small Talk, what most conversation would turn into without debates.

What is there to talk about besides politics, religion, and civic issues once you've told all your stories and jokes? Everything else becomes small talk.

Just my thoughts on the matter. Basically, I am very pro-debates.

*edit* I'd also like to add that I agree that the Mac/PC argument is pointless because it affects no one positively. No one would ever change their mind on the topic, and even if you were to convince the other person of your point, they would end up with a computer they were unsuited for, and they would make no changes as a person whatsoever.

True. If someone understands PCs and macs, they rarely switch their opinions. If someone doesn't they walk away confused or misinformed.

Bought Mac only for GS. Using Mac for a half year by now and still do not understand why people love it, but it doesn't bothers me. Also hate those debates.
