I just think about money. And i can only earn much of 'em by doing great games. So it's win-win scenario. Best motivator ever - history of mankind proves it.

Wish I knew the secret of motivation too.

I just force myself to do it, whether I like it or not!

If you work hard...something might happen for you. It might not, but there is a chance you will do well.

If you don't work hard, there is only one outcome, and that is, that nothing WILL happen for you.

So work hard and live the dream.

That concept should be enough to keep you motivated, but if not.....watch Jeremy Kyle on itv in the morning, and realise you don't want to be like the scrubbers on his show, and get out of bed. (Currently typing this whilst lying in bed).

    Haha - very true, Rlehm!

The last couple of weeks I've lost my motivation a lot. It's not like me, but I'm finding I'm getting frustrated a lot when plans don't happen when I'd like 'em to for various reasons...

I've recently got into making chiptune music on a GameBoy using LSDJ - it's fantastic fun, and I'm really enjoying it and getting those creative juices flowing again!

I returned to my game yesterday refreshed and raring to go! Taking a break helps sometimes, I guess ;)

Time passes whether you do hard work and follow your dreams and creativity or not. You'll get old and die whether you do hard work and follow your dreams and creativity or not. It's all about the journey, and if you follow your dreams and creativity then your time won't feel wasted when you look back at the end. Pass or fail, it's the effort that makes the difference.

Untill now I get my motivation out of the fact that I use most of my capabilities on just one thing and that is my games. I love drawing, am a graphic designer and a musician. So am I just having fun?
No, I'm a perfectionist and time is my enemy. Sleep to ;)

What I also like is the that I'm working on something that asks all of my capabilities. I even started to pic up math, something I was never good Seeing math in the game makes me understand what it is all about. I've jumped up from my chair when I got a formula right after googling, and trying for a day. Just to get an actor swinging for example ;)

I find that you just have to do it. Personally you just have to finsh a few games and then the process is much easier.

Yes, I noticed that. I was amazed by the simplicity when starting to use GS. But a good game still takes a lot of effort. There is no short cut. I uploaded my second game in 3 days but the update I am making now to get it really good takes me weeks (full time). And this is but a simple game to build.

    3 thing helps me.
    1. This forum.
    2. Rest.
    3. The fact, that even if my game fail as a commercial product it still not will be a waste of time because I will add it to my curriculum vitae, as a game fully developed by me.

    This.

There is no shortcut. GameSalad makes making games quicker and easier and fun(ner) but getting a polished game out the door still takes time, even simple ones.

What I find hardest to do is all the graphics and stuff for menus - it just seems so laborious and I put it off loads - but it's a relief when it's all done of course!

in the belief that one day one of your games may make it and you'll never have to work again.
because working is for suckers, all you do is give your hard earned cash back to the government for them to spend it on hookers and porn tapes or second houses.
