changing character image based on joystick movement

Hello all,

I am using a dual joystick template (left is move, right is fire and rotate) and I have a few questions about how to get what I want out of it.

1) How do I stop the character rotate while still allowing for the projectiles to be fired in a 360 fashion
2) How do I tell the joystick that when it is held to the left one character model is portrayed, and held to the right another one is?

I think that it is for now, any information would be spectacular!
