As i have understud. You can't use iOS 5.0 for developing apps. This means i can't have the Gamesalad Viewer ect.

Is this correct?

I have iOS5 with the viewer working fine. Of course you can develop with it why would apple release it to Developers early otherwise. I have seen some people having issue with the second beta though so you may wanna read up real good on it before continuing.

I am scared to upgrade to ios 5 because it might kill my device. Also to put ios 5 on the device do you have to restore it first?

Yes you have to restore your device to iOS5 and the setup from a backup. Its definitely risky and really not a huge deal to have at this point. I just wanted to try out the iCloud stuff now. I don't plan to update to the second beta. You don't have to certify your games on iOS5 so theres really no need to update unless you just want to.

Your forced to update to the next beta. The betas do expire.

Apple's track record is at least 14 days between updates, so I think your good. Glad I could warn someone before the dreaded "Plug Into iTunes" screen appears. (happened to me with the 4.0 beta)

I installed it and ran it for 2 weeks on my iPad 2. Loved the new features, wireless mirroring using appletv was just awesome. Wireless synching and app installation was also really good and seamless.

However it would crash at least twice a day on me, sometimes battery would drain fast when the screen was off and a bigger problem for me was a big bug when copying self published ePub files into iBooks (quite a specific bug for me). But while apple are still signing 4.3.3 you can still downgrade no problem (and take advantage of that lovely new jailbreak me!).

I was running iOS 5 beta and then I tried to update to the iOS 5 beta 2, but it turned my phone into a brick. Wouldn't start up, or respond in any way, so I restored it back to factory and updated to the normal current version. iOS 5 does bog down the phone for sure.

I'm running the beta 2 for iTunes and Xcode, and then downloaded Application Loader v. 1.3 because you can't upload with version 1.5. And it works fine. You can run the beta Xcode and still submit to the app store without having to re-install the normal current version of Xcode, just Application Loader needs to be 1.3 and not 1.5

I recommend the Beta2, iOS5 b1 was really slow to me. b2 seems to have helped that a lot, and I haven't had any issues working on my stuff.
