Gamesalad creator for iDevices?

What do you all think?

I personally think it's a fantastic idea, especially for iPad! :)

Yes, but how likely do you think it is that the GS dev team will go for something like this? How many % of GS users would use something like this (and how many % of GS users own and iPad?)?
I don't see how this could be productive.

I think they are using all their recourses keeping up with the iOS and other engines. And thats where the focus should be.

I would, I would buy a new iPad just to do this.

I've thought of this myself before, but unfortunately I believe it would be difficult to use and may not run smoothly. Also, I would much prefer the GameSalad team spend their time adding things like vectors, joints, and polygon collision.

Very true. I believe the same. But in this era of everything going, "on-the-go" GameSalad would be right for the mobile device.

I would hate trying to do all the little things with an iPad. think about how hard it is to set somethings placement just right with a mouse. Now imagine doing so with a finger. Absolutely not interested in this.

    Well then. -_-

    No grid?

even with a grid with snap ability, it would be extremly annoying. Developer toy, dapp, and those have grid snap in them. ANd its stilll very frustrating and annoying to place stuff. Your finger touch takes up more pixels then your mouse does

True, it does. Well it was just a thought.

I would use it if they could get it to work and I am guessing if they charged for the app they could make some money.

The real negative would be that there would be even more crap games in the app store since anyone with an iPad would be able to put out a game.

    Once again, very true. haha.

I think that the Gamesalad team has more important things to make than an iPad version of Gamesalad. Instead of making this they should be finishing up all the amazing features they have ready on the roadmap. Maybe this will make the roadmap next year or the year after that.

I doubt that the Devs will EVER put a GameSalad Editor for iDevices. I mean, they would have to spend a while porting all of this into a small, condensed screen(even if its an iPad). Then, they would have to implement touch controls and crap. All the while using up time that could be used for IMPORTANT stuff, like the In App Purchases everyone on the forums seem to be clamoring for.

    I strongly disagree with this.

Fact #1 - Android is on the roadmap...
    http://gamesalad.com/corporate/roadmap/

Fact #2 - Many Android users/developers might not even own a Mac.

Fact #3 - A GameSalad project is basically XML files and game content. It's web friendly.

So, combine that... how are Android developers going to create GameSalad games if they don't have a Mac? Is GameSalad going to create a Windows version and a Linux version? What about the proliferation of tablets? Are they going to create an Android and iOS version?

What they could do is create an HTML 5 version and solve multiple problems. Additionally, the GameSalad Creator is the most unstable Mac software that I currently use. If the software is tied to the cloud... why not go all the way and make it more stable? (But unfortunately, HTML 5 is bleeding-edge technology.)

When I add that stuff up, it seems like an HTML 5 editor makes sense...

1 - There's demand for software like GameSalad on other platforms
2 - There's technical issues with the GameSalad Creator.
3 - When Android hits in the fall, how will GameSalad support non Mac users?

I thought Project Masala was HTML 5 game creation. I think that would have been more revolutionary.

But until this stuff is straightened out, I can use Remoter VNC...
