Made me think....

Anyone up for a go at it?

Think a few of us could create some interesting games in that time! I already have an idea for one of these things! :) Iv been working on my projects at the moment and just wanted something else to do to keep myself fresh! I understand that TOTB3 is currently running but would just like to see if there is any interest in this kind of thing?

Cheers.

I had a similar idea to do this once a week. Actually if you did this once a week you would really good at making games.

Even if you don't release the games it is good practice some people in the industry call it rapid prototyping. I recommend doing this as much as possible.

Oooh I think I may try and do that, thanks for the idea! I can see how that can improve your skills dramatically as currently working on my projects at the moment I only learn a fraction of what there is to learn!

    Cheers.

8 months ago I had 2 really big projects that failed one after another. Pushing out a small game will for sure help you get better at what you do. If I have learned anything from developing games is that the more you prototype games the better you get.

I even though I am doing the TOTB3 I would love to do this I have been on these forums for a very long time but I am not very good at making games I think that this would totally improve skills. I would do it every 2 weeks (1 week just seems like too little amount of time to work on other games).

Well, there are plenty of game jams going on

    http://experimentalgameplay.com/

    http://gameprototypechallenge.com/

    http://www.ludumdare.com/

and with GS HTML 5, more people will be able to play your games. I strongly suggest checking those out. Each comp has it's own theme, is done monthly, and doing them could probably help your game dev and creativity skills.

I did EGP a couple of months back, and meant to do GPC, but then TOTB3 came up, and then life stuff came up so I haven't really been able to spend much time on TOTB3. But, they have all helped me come up with new and interesting ideas!

Let me know if any of you guys participate in these things, I'd love to check out what you make

btw. World of Goo started as an EGP project.

Sorry missed all these posts! Those websites look really interesting, Im tempted to make myself a website and post a new game regularly within 48 hours. Anyone else thats interested just shout :P A competition would also be fun every month or so. Just something where we can share ideas and improve our skills as developers!

Looking forward to hearing your ideas,

    Matt.
