Making Walkable Areas?

Can anyone offer me some advice for making walkable areas?

If it is possible it seems like a better way than creating walls around every path I have in a background to stop an actor wandering everywhere.

You need some kind of boundary but rather than walls along the edge of the path a quicker way would be to mask off the areas that are not path with an oblong/square actors with alpha=0 and use collission to stop the character straying onto those areas.

Thanks for the advice, but can you please explain how to make the alpha = 0 as I can't see that option anywhere.

If your just trying to make it so its unseen, go to graphics, and change the 'visible' option.
(I think, i dont have it on right now) But it is something like that.

    Hope this helps

Also you can change the opacity of the object which is what alpha changes

After some testing I don't think that this method will work.

Because I am having human characters wandering around environments Adventure Game style, they should be able to appear over part of their background, while only the feet are stuck to the path. Using this method the actor cannot go near any edges.

I'm thinking that perhaps I could create two actors, one a character and another the collision "feet" area. does this seem like the best work around? I've not quite sure how to implement it so the character moves with the collision area, but does also not collide itself.
