Extremely Frustrated - Gamesalad 0.9.5

I have just installed Gamesalad 9.5 again. I thought I could get away with finishing my project using 9.2 but the only way I can get the Gamesalad Creator working with the Gamesalad Viewer is by installing the latest update.

The problem is, my file is messed up with white squares, missing images and the animation replaced by wrong images. For example, when I preview, my main actor is missing, one of my traps is replaced by my "timer countdown images," and my level results are just white squares.

I thought I would spend a few hours tonight simply replacing the white images (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't) or recreating the actors but the more I look into what I need to do, the more I realize what I am up against. It would probably take more like 20 hours. My game is about 90% done (about 140 hours of total work). If I replaced some of the actors, I would need to reconfigure them for 30 some levels. That's a lot of work.

I spent some time reviewing the threads again and it looks to me that this problem has not officially been solved. Is this correct or am I wrong? In fact, it seems like it has been ignored over the last few weeks. This problem started with Gamesalad 9.3 but here it is 9.5 and I would have thought it would have been solved by now. Does anyone have any advice? Ideas? Anything? Thanks!

Yeah, I have the same problem, they said to email your project bugs@gamesalad.com but It will take forever if your emailing your whole project, compressing it only lowers a few megabytes off it. I am just working on a new project while the Gamesalad Team works on fixing this issue, its very frustrating. there was a sticky thread addressing the issue, but it has been deleted. Lets just hope the Devs fix this.

i dont think the problem is so much 0.9.5, but that you went from 0.9.2 to 0.9.5

This is not the problem. When 0.9.3 came out over a month ago, I installed it and the same exact thing happened. When 0.9.5 came out, I thought: Great! They must have fixed the white box/missing images/misplaced animation issue. I installed it and same result.

Might want to look at rebuilding it, might be faster for you .

I thought for sure this problem would be solved by now. I noticed the sticky was deleted and thought that was odd since the problem is major and seemed like it was not solved.

When it is all said and done, you may be right. But here's the thing:

    1) I'm almost finished with the game - in fact, I had just signed up as a developer to begin the game testing process and

    2) The principle of it. Software updates are suppose to make life easier. They are suppose to make your program and project files run smoother. Not turn your project file into chaos.

I thought for sure there would be a fix by now and a little surprised we have not heard much about there being a fix for this.

This bug was addressed for the 0.9.4 release:

    http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=23984#post-182071

In particular, please read the following statement Yodapollo made regarding the corrupted assets:

"NOTE: Fixes for profile corruption and asset corruption are forward facing, meaning that any project that was "corrupted" will remain so, but it will not occur with any projects going forward or with legacy projects that have not been opened with 0.9.3. Don't worry, all is not lost with these "corrupted" projects. There are workarounds to resolve the issues:"

The basic translation is that your situation can only be resolved through the workaround. As always, you are welcome to submit your project to us - doing so will allow us to analyze your project and hopefully provide you a more efficient method of repairing your white boxes. If you do not wish to send us your project, you can continue to reference the workaround mentioned in the thread above.

The workarounds don't work at all for me and judging by peoples responses in the thread it doesn't seem to work for the majority of them.

I guess I will decide if I want to hand over my project, try and make sense of the chaos or start over from scratch. Unfortunately, and what I was afraid of, less than ideal solutions.

I am curious as to why the workarounds did not work for you. Users who we have been in contact with regarding this issue were able to repair their white boxes with a little assistance. In most cases there was just a slight confusion regarding how to properly follow the workaround steps. We are very much willing to provide the same help for you, if you are willing.

I will go ahead and send the project to bugs @ gamesalad dot com.

the white images problem for me was fixed by copy pasting all the images from a known working backup into the project's "images" folder. The image .pngs were corrupted, not the project. Oh and delete that stupid .gsuser data file. I dunno what it does other than get big and mess stuff up.
