OMFG. That's Tshirt's game :( Luckily this idiot priced it for $140. Hopefully no one will purchase at that rate.

    Matt

EDIT: He now priced it at tier 1 :/

The two games stated above are made by the same people, Slimline Games, I wonder who it is on the forums.

OMFG! wow wonders never cease to amaze me.what would you be thinking to even put that on the app store.cant you ban him if he's an active user of GS.need to put a clear signal out there to those that think they can do this.

    Gotta love Ted.

T-Shirt. If you badger him enough, it seems he will get the message.
I finally got him to remove the panda template he published. Although it helped that he was illegally using the song, that I had previously registered with PRS.

Also t-shirt, setting the price high, rather than removing from sales whilst he "updates" wouldn't have been good enough for me dude....it's back to 99c now btw.

We all need to (as my Grime MC friends would say) go IN on him as much as poss.

Some of the things he has for sale are baffling.

"The Blob" is especially useless as a real world app. (They won't allow farting apps, but they will allow what amounts to nothing more than a simple animation onscreen????)
    as is "Particle Generator"

I also sent an email to Apple last week pointing out his business model to them, and linking them to the original template creators websites/content. Pointing out to them that it's pretty much making a mockery of/clogging up the already crowded and competitive app store.

Also.. I just found the banner on TouchArcade too. Which has a nice "FREE" sash on the bottom right of it. So you click through, to find it's $0.99

I'm not sure if he is some sort of genius...or just the dimmest idiot I have ever come across.

My money is on the latter of course. ;)

Master Slimeline at it again! Never! He would no doubt hold forth that he is a humble retailer (sees the marketplace as his warehouse), but I wouldn't ask him to hold my wallet.

Another reason why GS should not be free.

I also think that the GS team should remove your publishing rights or pulling crp like this.

That coupled with a 100 a year fee should discourage asshats like this

Theres a slim line between stealing and using templates...

    get it?

On a serious note, this is to be expected when selling templates; for people to use them. As long as he makes his own sprites and levels, he's not to blame, even though I won't call him a game designer.

Well, I might know why he priced the game this way.

There is an app or site (not sure because I don´t have it) that tracks the prices of other apps. So, when an app goes free, it gets first page publicity at least for a while. The same happens when the price drops from very high to 0.99.

I would like to ask if anyone here has tried that.

    Outrageous...

But if someone legitimately sold him a template, what can you do?
  • SparkyidrSparkyidr Member Posts: 2,033
Well my template he bought specifically said that the graphics and music were not to be used.

Also, the song was registered as a published piece of work, which can't be used without licensing it through the proper channels.

thats what you can do.. and for 99.9% of customers, that's fine and dandy, and they stick to the rules.

For this one person though.... it is obviously not enough.
  • StuartYStuartY Member Posts: 134
In your case that's true Sparky, but this new example - would I be right in saying he's replaced the graphics and not used unlicensed music? If so, I'm afraid this is legit even though it's lazy and hackish.

As far as I can tell, the t-shirt template he used, seems to have the original graphics (I may well be wrong though)
  • SparkyidrSparkyidr Member Posts: 2,033
It's not so much a marketplace problem....more a person problem.

Also.... if you don't want to "see this stuff", maybe don't reply bumping it back to the top of the thread list ;)
    just a thought.

If people bothered to stick to the licence agreements that came with said templates, I wouldn't need to take the graphics and sounds out.

That's the point here...not the fact that they are in.

Also, you bumped this up to the top again, so you are going to have to see it again... sorry luv.

Technically he has done nothing wrong using my papertoss template.

I encourage buyers to add their own graphics and stuff but its entirely up to them...

Not sure who it is as I sold a few copies...

as crappy as it is. He's not broken any rules unless the templates where sold with the condition that GameAssets where not allowed to be used. He has a game of almost every template out there.
  • SparkyidrSparkyidr Member Posts: 2,033
    LOLz ;)
Uptimistik...you made me snort some coffee out of my nose just then

One good thing to come out of this (depends on your point of view I guess) is that people who make templates will be far more strict on what is included and what is not I suspect. I know I will.

Im glad u told him Tshirt I had knew that game looked like one of your templateswhen I saw it in the store.
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
These types of scenarios are a tough call. In a way, we as template makers are responsible to make sure that nimrods like these don't just publish them as is, as it ruins it for the people that buy them, on the other hand, it does clearly say not to use the graphics. SO I can see both sides of the coin.

I think that, unfortunately, some responsibility does lie with the template maker, knowing that things like this will continue to occur, we need to construct templates in a way that makes it difficult for someone to publish as a full game.
  • SparkyidrSparkyidr Member Posts: 2,033
The problem with the guy in question (Slimline games/Ted) is that he doesn't seem to care if he publishes something that's not what most people would consider a "finished product" anyways.

Hence why he has the blob, and the particle emitter things etc.

    he is just a numpty!
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
    @Sparky:
Agreed, he is definitely in a separate category from the rest, & has no scruples whatsoever.

    @T
I thought you put watermarks in your graphics?

the only way I can think of is using PS to change them
