What do you do if you have made a great game, filled with cool elements and stuff, but the level design you make yourself always seem to suck?

i ask all my friends to make levels for me. they draw it crudely on paper and i convert it into gamesalad. it usually ends up good

I get all of gsfanatic's friends to draw me levels on ...

    Sorry. Struck me as funny.

I tend to mak game levels too hard. My new secret is to make 3 times the number of levels I need, and then watch people when they play test the game. If they lose interest or get frustrated I get rid of that level. If I make enough levels, some are bound to turn out ok.

I think the HTML5 option would be a great way to test levels... Get friends only to test it out, and then offer some feedback.

Normally when I can't make good levels, I keep working on those cool game elements until I can make 'gameplay bricks' and combine them to create new 'bricks'.

The problem is the reverse for me. I make the levels for myself to find them fun, but once I fully master the game mechanics, it's hard to make a level that I can enjoy without beating the hell out of casual players.

Maybe hire someone. There are some great cheap ones in the Marketplace! Or I like jamesmunro2's idea. Making extra levels is a smart way to get a game full of nice levels that aren't frustrating.
