Optimizing loading time

Hello there

I noticed that quite a few games made with gamesalad have a big loading time. I wonder if this is unavoidable or not. I do not have a mac yet but i am planning to buy one and use game salad. As I am discussing things with the artist I am wondering what I should ask from him and what I should expect from the loading time. Preferably I would like:

a) a background with a constant animation on it (the whole background would be animated water that would change all the time) and would last a few seconds

b) 5 animations with 2 of them covering 20% of the scren and lasting probably 3 secs, 2 of them covering around 40% of the screen lasting around 4-5 seconds and an animation that covers 70% of the screen and lasts 4-5 seconds. For the frame rate I had in mind 20 per sec, but i am not sure that would be feasible anymore. I could bring it a bit down, but I am not sure how much.

c) A few other things, but nothing too much. The game would also use a small track of 1 min and simple sound effects.

Should I expect that this would bring up too much the loading time?
Should I give up the animations?

No, that is quite feasible. Your water animation sounds like the most processor intensive animation. 20 FPS is slow in comparison to most games(even TV cartoons have at least 24 FPS), so that will be easy on the processor too. Even multiple animations at that rate won't be too bad, as long as they don't overlap each other. The soundtrack and sound effects shouldn't hamper the CPU either. Go for it!!
