Can I test on iphone without Apple Developers $99 fee?

I have read all the info on this site, but cannot find the answer to my question.

First off I have already signed up as a FREE Apple Developer and downloaded the iPhone SDK and Xcode kit. I understand that if I want to sell my Apps I will have to pay the Apple developer fee of $99 to get the certificates etc, but...

I now want to start seeing how my GS apps look on my actual iPhone for testing. I understand that if I buy the GS ($99) membership this will give me access to the GS viewer etc for testing on my iphone, but will it work if I have the Apple SDK and Xcode, but have not actually paid for Apple FULL ($99) developer programme yet?

Thanks

No, part of installing the GS viewer into your iPhone involves having certain certificates created for you by apple's servers.

Okay so to test on Iphone I have to pay $99 for GS and $99 for App dev and it can't be tested on iphone with GS alone?

If I need both which one do you install/run first?

Apple Dev for $99 will give you a digital certificate to compile, install, and run apps signed by yourself.

GameSalad for $99+ will give you the GS Viewer iPhone application which needs to be compiled with digital certificate so you can install and run it on your device.

You'll need both, but in that order.

WTF?! I just want to test a game I've developed, not actually sell the game on the App Store. Isn't there another way to test it on an iPod Touch/iPhone?

Or maybe... use my MacBook Pro's accelerometer...?

I just need to know if the accelerometer behavior is going to do what I want it to do.

This is a restriction posed by apple and has nothing to do with game salad.

I'M also closing this thread, this has been brought up about once a month over the past year, and you managed to reply to the one from 11 mths ago!

The iPhone simulator does not simulate the accelerometer. You'll need to purchase the dev account to test with your physical device
