This is a interesting read about App piracy.

The comments are worth a read as well on suggestions to combat piracy.

Yeah i have also read about similar 90% piracy figures...remember World of goo on PC?

I strongly believe apple could do more but i don't think the pirates are the kind of people that don't buy stuff anyways so they will simple move onto the next freebie they can get.

Imagine how many illegal copies of Angry Birds there must be? 100 million? 200 million?

Does Steve Jobs try to stop this? Seems like he gets paid anyway

I wouldn't worry too much about pirates. They aren't really potential customers. It's not like you're losing your sales because of them, because they wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't free. Point is, that game still would have had "low" sales (and shouldn't have put so much faith in GC as a barometer).

They should have been happy it was pirated so much. If some of those people who pirated the game showed it to some people who actually purchase their games it could have generated more sales than it would have without having been pirated.

Feel bad for them though because it sounded like they really got their hopes up.

Imagine these figures in comparison to Android!

Pirates will always be pirates, as shameful as it is :(

My interest with gamesalad just started and even though i just got here i feel pirating can be a problem. Devjonhnson is right about not losing sales but loosing a potential buyer is just as critical if you know that you could possibly make money off of that person. I feel like this blocks off your opportunity to earn money because once they have the app for free(pirated) there's no need to put up any money.
