I'd imagine it'll be iOS only.

Regardless, here's some very sage advice:

very interesting, but most of it doesn't apply to what we do since most of the features that allows monetization are out of reach for GS users, well at least out of reach until all the other platform has their fair share of the cake, judging from the speed of the development we are at the mercy of the head chefs if we were to make any money.

One thing that I find very interesting is the method they've discussed in the video basically empowers the players to discover fairly simple business practices, and by doing so they are willing to pay up in order to gain advantage over the other players, (basically game economy is just a micro version of the real thing) which is completely the opposite of what GS is doing. While not to bash the GS platform, they just haven't find the target audience that will be empowered by this platform (gaining advantage over their peers) well at least in the sense of being able to returning some of the rewards they reap.

Take the market place for example, that's very much like giving users super powers because games depends heavily on compelling music and graphics. Instead GS should focus on features such as in app purchase, more device oriented features, those are the ones much like the extra item slot mentioned in the video. Because it gives the user more capacity to achieve greater things based on their own take on the toolset provided. (much like extra item slot allows the users to choose and their own array of items and powers they want to carry in order to gain fair advantage)

I mean if we really look at what the marketplace will do? basically it gives players unfair advantages, ones that they don't really know how to use. If you don't know how to design art or music, most likely you'll just buy an item and use it as it is, the result is a bunch of game with similiar music and characters, very similar to a bunch of rich kids with ultimate weapon in any MMORPG games without knowing how to use them or the bacis of game min maxing.

just my 2 cents. and thanx for the video QS

If nothing else, I hope people will be swayed by the 'never sell power' argument, and the splintering of the userbase.

Also, the 'everything you sell as an extra should be attainable just by playing'

I think those certainly are relevant, and will hopefully guide people using GS to not be asshats when IAP arrives :D

    Cheers,

Sure looks like its slated for summer to me. Of course the roadmap is being updated so maybe just to hold everyone back GS will bump it till Winter. ;)

I read the Mac app store will support iap with Lion. So hopefully GS will let us use iap for mac too.
