Project Size Question

I just started a new iPad project. I imported 33 jpeg images. on my computer the size of all the jpegs is about 5MB. On the home screen the project size says 38MB after I imported the images. I have placed one image in one scene, nothing else has been done. Why the giant size? Has a rookie mistake been made? Any thoughts are appreciated!

It seems that GameSalad converted those jpeg files to PNG.

I found the greatest answer. I found this thread when searching for help. When I did what tshirtbooth suggested my project size went from 38MB to 5MB. I didn't realize that GameSalad automatically converts jpgs to pngs. Great info tshirtbooth!!!! I'm so happy to know this, thanks!

Great trick and well useful (for those that are not aware- this is great for anything rectangular, but if you want an alpha channel, then stick with png).
