I like doodle art since there are no other plants n zombie doodle games yet. Would kind of make your game stick out.

After cartoons, I'd say the next closest art form would be art nouveau, which tends to have thick black edges with less definition inside. For the colouring you might want to check out cell shading. I've seen at least one tutorial for it on the gs forums.
