First days with an app on the appstore

Hi

Just wanted to share my first impressions, this is the first app I launched, its very simple but something that allowed me to try gamesalad and the store too. Took me only 3-4 days to make while learning how to register with apple etc and I didnt intend to promote or market it too much, just leave it there in the appstore. It went better than expected (I actually expected 0 sales) but it has sold 25 units in 5 days, nothing special, the ipad version sells better, maybe less saturated market? Is that the general norm for casual simple apps? Do the sales remain similar overtime? Whats the most profitable category? Any idea on this?

Oh i forgot=
This is the iPhone version

You have one big problem. You're screenshots say nothing about gameplay, I mean, I can't uderstand gameplay when I look at you're screens.

    Thx for the info.

Thanks, you might be right. I think the problem is that its not too obvious that is a prank type of app. I was douting about making a scary icon&name or just something else. I think the other way round would have been better. All its useful info to take into account when making the next app

Haha i quite like the look of the game from what i've seen in the video.

My only question is how did you manage to get an image of the clown from "IT" through Apple's filters? Shouldn't that be some sort of copyright infringement lol? :)

Hehe thanks, its only a simple scary maze, yes, i was worried about that but there are apps already on the appstore using the exorcism girl for the same prank. I dont know the policy, but maybe because that pic is not the selling point they let it pass...

There are apps using sounds from movies or series made by individuals and surely without permission from the studios that are on the top 20 charts... I would like to know better about the limits of the usage of images etc

By the way, ive sent the version 1,2 with images from the top 20 horror movies...lets see if they approve that...

Sales wise a little update, i put it for free for one week, and the ipad version got to the 86th place of free entertaiment ipad apps in the US

That meant around 1200 downloads in one day for that version. In a week almost 4500 units between ipad & iphone, now its back to 0'99 usd. And is around 2-1 purchases per day

I expect better sales with v 1.2, it will have a better name= tricky maze (scary prank) better screenshoots and looks funnier...lets see how it goes then...
