Hello everyone,
I am totally new to the whole concept of game development (I love playing game, I think its time to start developing). I recently decided to develop games targeting ios devices, then I came across game salad. I got a Mac yesterday and I already downloaded game salad, but the only problem I have right now is where do I start from. There are too many resources and its pretty overwhelming. I will appreciate any advice especially from new beginners and experienced users.

Thanks,

Victor.

    Hello voe513,

You should start by getting a basic idea and work on it for a while. then ditch it after you have figured out gamesalad and work on an awesome game!
Here are some other tools you should download. Just google them to get the website. They're all free!
    Pixen
    Blender
    Audacity
    CFXR

    Firstly, welcome!

The main thing is to have fun! I would download some of the free demos you can find within the creator, and try and see how they work.

It's what I did with an 'asteroids' demo - just looked in every actor, tried to work out what was affecting what etc etc

What you'll find is that you'll get confused every now and again, and that's what we're all here for - to help you work stuff out you find confusing! :D

At some point you'll get frustrated. We all have! Just take a deep breath, take a break, then come back to it. Too many people are quick to blame the software, when really, a simple change would fix a seemingly unworkable problem!

Take it easy, take your time, have fun, and good luck!

    QS :D

Hi there and welcome to the community.

GameSalad is truly amazing and POWERFUL! Don't let it's ease of use full you, because you can make Professional Quality games with it if you put in the time.

The GameSalad Cookbook is where you want to go to learn the basics, just watch all the videos, that's what I did.

I created my game Bouncing Birds! after using the GameSalad software for only 2 months! To put that into perspective. It can take literally years to go from no development experience to learning C# well enough to make a very basic game. So good luck with your GameSalad learning :)
