I understand that is a good development platform for games and no code but is way too expensive, is more expensive than the iPhone SDK itself and Epic's Unreal Engine 3 sdk, 499 d is way too expensive, I understand wanting to get money for their excellent development platform, the cost should be 99dll is more just than 499, I believe that if the cost is just many users will update the version PRO.

Greetings and a suggestion because it is a very good platform but is very expensive

It used to be 1,999 so 499 is quite the bargain. A true GS pro user (because if you buy pro in theory that is what you are) should have no prob getting the money back in no time.

To hire a team of coders from India to code your game in native Xcode would be about $10,000 a month, or you can spend the next 3 years learning C#, or you can use GameSalad. Which one sounds the best to you?

india all the way lol. 10k for a month of developer's work is dirt cheap.

i do agree that if pro membership was $99, likely 5X more people will sign up. most of us don't seem to have a problem purchasing the iOS developer account at all.

It is possible to learn objective c very cheaply (money wise), but I don't want to go that way and feel my time is far better spent working with a tool like GS. When the time comes to publish I will go pro and will see it as an investment like any other. I feel the deal is fair, and if you don't mind the minor reductions in facilities that the non Pro version has it is more than a bargain.

ya. get ur feet wet and make sure you really know what you are getting if you wanna buy the pro membership. and if it is worth it to you.

price is all relative... just FYI for the rest of us... adobe charges $5000 for their enterprise development tool, and it comes with dedicated adobe staff that does acrobats for you (pun intended) there are other platform out there you can pick from, including using flash for development to light coding... but if you want to focus on the user experience and design so far GS has slight edge at the compensation of waiting for the GS team to translate the latest development of IOS into drag and drop interface. so nothing is perfect, guess you'll really have to give it a try before you know if it's worth it to you. people always say you'll make your money back, but you aren't really making it back unless you make a lot more than $499, i could make $499 working in McDonnell for a week or two, and to be able to make $499 with a GS game.. you need more than 2 weeks to learn. just to put things in perspective.

Well the iPhone SDK is free with your developer account so yeah any SDK is gonna be more expensive. For the most part the pro features are based around monetization and marketing not making your game better. So… If you are worried your Game will not make the $499 back. with those extra options. Don't upgrade. That Easy. GameSalads price for Pro is priced dead on. And really GS should be $99 for what is the free version. So I don't think gripping is in order.

I haven't got GS Pro yet, but in saying that, GS free is amazing as is... there are no trial time limits, no save restrictions etc and everything is coded for you! I agree $99 would be a good price, but when it is out of beta. All up I struggle to actually learn Lua, Cocos2d or Xcode as GS allows you to spend more time designing visually. It's game making, made easy!

    Just saying...

Compared to any other industry pro software, gamesalad is very fairly priced.

Look at visual effects softwares, not just adobe, but eyeon fusion, the foundry's nuke, discreet products. Or editing software like Avid or Final Cut(7), sound editing software like pro tools. And your jaw will drop if you think GS pro is expensive!

What's the difference between gs and gs pro pro? Why should we spend 499? Make a list below

i think it is too expensive, for the simple fact that its still in beta, and the many bugs that go with it,and before anyone pulls out the daggers to defend GS,I'm a paying member and have a right to my opinion

    thank you

This has been discussed 100s of times before.

    The price is good

GS Free should be raised back to 99 to keep a barrier of entry to shovel ware developers.

I agree the pro price is good.
But i do not think that GS free should be 99.

It costs money to make money. You are buying tools to make you money. Take the $1900.00 Adobe Suite for example:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H5948LL/A?fnode=NDQ5MDUxOQ&mco=MjIwNjU2NzM

If you're serious about making a great product(game) then you WILL make back your investment. I repeat you WILL. It might take just 1 game or it might take 10 but if you really put out a professional product then the cost of the program is worth every penny.

this has been beat to death. Regular game-salad is free, and you don't need pro to make your game. Pro is called professional for a reason, if you think the 500 is to expensive then you don't need it.

Im closing this one, as theres nothing useful that will come out of this.
