Haelo! Luna_Luck here, wondering if it is even possible to make a pokemon like RPG? And if yes, then how? I have soo many ideas for a game like this, I just need the know-how :P
maybe ill just start out with how the battling works.. then build from that..later on add different moves, weaknesses, and resistances... and on and on..
I think it's possible to make a Pokemon game, but please don't make a Pokemon clone! If you look at Gameloft's game Crystal Monsters for the Nintendo DSi, you'll see why clones are bad.
Try to be creative with each game you make. Pretty much every game I've made is unique and original. It's okay to use elements from other games, though, as long as you add your own twist.
Oh my goodness your right! i will try not to make a clone.. but i dont want it to be axactly like pokemon either.. like.. new teams/charachters/traineres... would that count as a clone? or pokemon game? i have lots of ROMs of hacks (not recommending it it eats up your life) and only a handful were good...

As long as you add your own unique twist, it shouldn't count as a clone. If it does end up feeling too much like Pokemon, though, it's suggested you change some things.
The best thing to do NOT to make it feel like a Poke-clone is to DITCH the MONSTERS. I know that the monsters are the most integral part, but so does everyone else. So they put monsters in the game, making it feel even more cloned. Put something else, like, er, programs. Spectrobes ( for Nintendo DS) had the digging and reviving element. Fossil Fighters(also for DS) had Vivosaurs, enhanced dinosaurs.
Brrr. imagine: "Go, German Shepherd!! Use Scary Bite!" "Go, Albino Rooster!! Use Crow of Death!" German Shepherd's Attack lowered by 20! Albino Rooster's Health lowered by 10!

But again, a little creative thinking can get you round most problems!
