Official Cross-Platform Controller Template not work on gen 1 iphone?

it loads up, but if you press A or B button, a bullet will come out and freeze in the first frame, or if you use the joystick the ship doesn't move, or the little man doesn't move either, just spins in place.

This supposed to happen? or...
