How to start

So I recently started a topic and it didn't really get anywhere. I am planing on making a top down 2d shooter. Can someone help me and tell me where to look for tutorials. I looked at the forums, and I couldn't find anything. I am new too.

    Hi zNiiC; welcome to GS and the Forums. :-)

    It's difficult to locate specific stuff because there's getting to be quite a lot of it; but having said that, check out the games/templates that appear in the first dialog when you open GS. In particular, an excellent template called Joystick control, used mainly for top-down stuff.

    There's TShirtbooth's excllent site http://gshelper.com/ and loads of stuff in the Cookbook - more each month - which you can find by clicking the Cookbook button at the top of this page. Also on YouTube:

    good luck making your game...

    you can always ask questions on the forum too... people will get back to you with answers and help pretty quickly on a good day.

    I'm making a top down set up for my current project... once you've got the basics set up the potential for top down view games is huge. Enjoying how my one is progressing...

    Here's what I have working so far... + its not in the video but I'm working on a flame thrower idea too....looks quite nice with particles..

    I want to make that exact same thing except with arrows to move and for the iPhone! Can you tell me what you did to start?
