edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
hi there, i was just starting work on a new game for the imac and have a couple q's,

i am working on a 27" imac so the resolution is a rather large 2560x1440 (makes working in GS difficult sometimes, could do with a zoom option!!!) from what i have read resolution independance doesn't work yet for iMacs so i guess my question is.. is it really viable to make a game for the imac at all with GS, i want the game to display at full res on any imac its played on, but other than creating a different project for each screen res im at a bit of a loss on how to go about it :/

thanks

oh and i am also having problems with everything appearing squashed since upscaling, I started the real basics of the game in a 960x640 environment and then scaled it up to 2560x1440, even when published all the actors that are all equal dimensions (64x64) appear to be streched, also the published version does not fill my screen completely even though it is 2560x1440 :/

    EDIT

aspect ratio is different 3:2 iphone 16:9 imac

does this mean GS only supports 3:2 ...so confused ryt now

When you create a game for mac it has to be good on all mac platforms meaning your game basically needs to be fully visible on an 11" Mac Book Air. So while you could prob in high res art so that full screen on the iMac looks all right i'm not sure stretching it out to that size will ever look ok.

    thanks for the reply!

sorry i think my original post may have been a bit misleading(or im getting the wrong end of the stick completely), i'm not upscaling any artwork.. when i said i had started the basics of the game in an iphone4 sized environment i had not added any artwork yet, just coloured actors.

i was planning on the artwork being made high res, then checking resolution independance as you would do with an iphone game but because that wont work does that mean i have to create a separate project for each resolution?

if this is the case (and i have no idea how this would work in the appstore) then i need to know if all the mac screens including macbooks have the same aspect ratio, otherwise the artwork will appear squashed on different machines....

i dont really want a game running at the screen size of a macbook air when im using a 27" imac

the imac has such a beautiful screen it seems a shame if theres no way of creating apps that will support it as well as other macs
