Just like the title says "How long did it take you to become a sous chef" I would like to become a sous chef and was wondering how long it takes. I am an active member on the forums each day and consider myself knowledgeable. I have been a Gamesalad member for over a year now.

You deserve to be a sous chef more than WesWog did. He is good with the creator, but he is not active, and I haven't seen him close threads. If he was active he would deserve to be a sous chef as the posts he did post are useful, but there isn't a lot of those. I am not attacking you at all weswog, you are very talented.

Ummm I'm sorry but that's a little ridiculous! Weswog is great as a sous chef. He has a youtube channel full of video tutorials & Weswog & I give private help to members each & everyday. He has used the creator for a good two years now. He keeps all of GameSalads secrets even though he is not legally bounded to it.

He is an amazing sous chef. Ryan, I think you shouldn't be talking about what members are worthy of being a sous.

(This is all speculation) I'm sure there is no automatic promotion based on time using GS. Besides, Sous-chef status isn't so much about skill with the programming, but an ability to teach, moderate, and in general keep the tone of the forums civil and forward moving.

You may consider yourself knowledgable, and while you may post often, I don't often see constructive posts from you. This isn't meant to be offensive. Sous-chefs have a special responsibility to be better members than the rest of us. There may be some sniping here or there, but the sous' I've seen still move this community forward.

One tip. I'm fairly certain the fastest way to NOT become a sous-chef is to create a forum topic on the subject. I seem to recall a thread where one member was promoting themselves as a potential sous, and in all the rabble rabble, JohnP unwittingly emerged as a sous. Do you offer what these members offer?

You're active on the forums and and probably would be a sous chef by now if you kept quiet about corona... And you deserve to be a sous chef besides being a part-time spammer for Corona.

I appreciate you saying that I should be a sous, I try to help out the best I can. About Corona, you can't really say I'm a spammer for them... I enjoy talking about other SDKs (ask Weswog he knows that's my #1 topic), but I'm just exploring other platforms & with all honesty I barely know any Lua. I literally am just learning. No matter what platform I go to, I will always be here to help out when I can & that's the important part.

Again, thank you for recommending me as a sous chef, but whether I'm a sous or not, I'll still always help out :D

    Cheers!
    Matt

To those that are Sous Chefs, thank you. I may not agree with everything you do or say, but you all do a great job, and you can't make everyone happy all the time. Sometimes, I need a little beat down. And you all do it in a very nice and civilized manner.

As to wanting to be a Sous Chef, I don't know if I would wish that on anyone. They do get to beta test and I guess it might make their products (e.g., templates) more marketable (maybe). But all in all, the benefits seem minimal for the time they are putting in to help others and moderate the forums. It really is a thankless "position" and we all should do more to thank them for even being willing to do it. So thank you again. I think it takes a real passion for GS and for helping others to do what they do.

Yeah, I also think that sous chefs put in a lot of time and do lots of things. This post is not to promote myself for sous chef but more to learn how to become a sous chef. I was just curious on how the sous chefs became sous chefs. About Weswong, I think that he is a good sous chef and gives good advice and information. One other question I was wondering about is, do sous chefs ever make threads? I can't recall the last time that I saw a sous chef make a thread.

Haha of course they can make threads! JohnPapiomitis made one earlier today to show off his new game :D

Yeah I know that they can make threads but do they ever make threads asking questions. I have seen sous chefs make threads to promote their videos or templates but I haven't seen a sous chef make a thread and ask a question.

because most of them are good at GS already, no need to ask questions all the time

I don't think times matter, u can be here for 10 yeas and still be a member but others are just here for 2 years and he/she is a chef
