Need some advice about particles

I don't really know, what particle means in GS.

What do they do?

What I need:

I have a bal, which moves on the screen in different direction in pong style.

I have an animation for the trail, which is some kind of particle effect, but it's really just an artistic animation. It is not a "dot" for reproduction (if you know, what I mean)

Now I want the trail follow the ball, but I need it always change direction with the ball, so it always stays "behind" the ball.

I have read the how to for following an actor, but I don't know if it is the right thing for me. I didn't test it jet.

Can somebody tell me, what is the best solution to achive the effect, what I want?

Yeah, use a particle. Look for some of the space demo projects, they use a particle behavior for the propulsion blast behind the ships (i.e. leaves a rear-facing trail that tapers as the ship flies around). Highly configurable for speed of emission, color, size changes, direction, image of particles, lifespan of particles, etc.

Thanks, I will look at it.

But I have my own art for it and I will use that, and I think, I can't use it like a real particle effect, because it is too big.

As I said, it is not sime sparkle effect, but I will try around then...

Ok I looked at the particles. Maybe I can work with that, but how can I make animated particles? It seems, it is not possible as I can only show one image per particle.

Is there a workaround for that?
