How to display simple text?

Hi. I'm very new to GS. I just downloaded it a couple days ago and I've been watching all the tutorials like an eager student should.

I want to make a fairly simple guide app with most of it just static text, but how do I display simple text? I see the attribute 'display text' but I'm not sure how it works? Any input would be great! :)

    ok so you need an actor, best you just have a blank actor that is the same color as your background.
    you then put the display text thing in the actor, rule are.
    then its simple you just type the text in the display text rule
    --------IMPORTANT--------------
    to get a new line in the next you need to click" control" "Enter"
    if its not control enter try "alt"

    OK if you want custom text for the menu, or buttons, or story line, you could just type it in illustrator or photoshop and import as an image!
