I'm on the verge of getting a Mac so I can get Gamesalad. I do want to make couple of games/app I have in mind and publish to the market.

I can't buy an Iphone.

I'm sure many download the game on the Iphone after being published to see how it looks and check out bugs, etc.

Is there a functionality in Gamesalad where I can view and play the game as if it's on an Iphone?

There's a Preview button, but it won't test performance and Ram usage.

Look at getting yourself an ipod instead.
I was in the same situation and couldn't afford an iphone, and didn't want to get locked into a contract - so the ipod works out cheaper and is a one off payment.

Can the game be played in Preview? or just get the feel of it?

So you connect Ipod to computer and transfer the game over?

You can play it, but you won't see how it works on a real device.

Very bad idea. You need a device to test on period, if you cant afford one or you cant borrow one from someone then now isn't the right time for you to develop apps. Sorry if i sound harsh, its just completely irresponsible and absurd to release a app without testing on any device.

yea, don't ever release an app without testing it on the device you are targeting. The performance you see in preview mode is no where near what it will be on the device.

You will need a device to test things like multitouch and the accelerometers. And I agree with Digi-chain that you should get an iPod Touch. Also they are usually less capable than the equivalent iPhone which is actually good for testing.

    ^ Thanks for info all.

I don't want to sound ignorant, but can I get an old used Iphone (not activated) and hook it up to Mac to transfer the game over? Just use that to test.

    Is that possible?

Of course, if you are only developing for Macintosh computers themself, you don't need a device.
