Why not try it and test it
I tested tiles recently and it seemed to work properly on iOS devices, but it gets confusing in regular preview mode... because it doesn't display properly there. It also seemed a bit too unstable, so I just skipped it.
I think GameSalad should let you manually specify the Retina Display and Low Res graphics... and compress them once (not every time the game is built).
