Is it possible to raise a game with almost no sales anymore?

I have a free game, that is like dead. It usually gets less then 5 downloads/day,

I'm thinking about remaking it, the graphics and sounds, levels, etc.

Could this make make the game successfull?

Have you ever updated a game before? Every time I update my free game I get a surge in downloads. I get less than 5 downloads a day but when I update it I can get 40-80. Also, doing things like changing the icon helps with downloads as well. Not really sure why, but even if you make a super minor tweak it can be done.

If you want to raise this game, plan on doing at least 4-8 updates over the course of 2 months or so with an icon change or two. Even if the updates are incredibly minor like "made a tweak to a picture" it's still an update.

Give it a shot and see what happens.

+1 completely. Updating it is a major factor. However, marketing will also help. I have a great marketing service, if you would like to email me at redsky@programmer.net

    Good luck!

I thought the only reason you get a surge when you issue an update is because people who already have it all get notified to update. I assumed these users that already have it are your surge.

I wasn't aware that there was any way that updates get advertised, therefore can't see why it would cause a surge.

Well maybe not directly, but I recommended and ended up buying Terraria for my friends because of how frequently it was being updated.

Showing consumers that they are getting more for their money than they originally though is a great way to make them happy about their purchase. The happier a person is with a purchase, the more likely he/she is to tell his/her friend about it.

Though I'm sure there are plenty of better ways to get more downloads. Like good reviews for example :P
