Question for UK members on sole traders and registering as company

Can any UK members that have enrolled as a company on the developer program shed some light on what documents would be needed for registration?

It does say on the Apple site "To provide us business documents including, but not limited to: Articles of Incorporation, Business License, etc. as part of our identity verification process."

I used to be enrolled as an individual in the developer program, but this has just expired and I would prefer to release future apps under a company name rather than my own name. I am planning to go the sole trader route, but as far as I know, you just need to let the inland revenue know you're self-employed. Do you get any documents as a sole trader? Do sole traders qualify to register for the company developer program and if so, what documents could I provide?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt Apple would recognise sole traders as anything other than individuals as really that is all we are :) I would be very happy to be wrong on this however.

I see. That's a shame, so it means we have to register as a limited company, which means corporation tax :(. Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

As far as i know you get nothing for being a sole trader and as you say Apple want a certificate of incorporation etc.

I called Apple developer support, and apparently you can change the name once, after you have signed up as an individual, to whatever name you want to show up in the appstore. But all business etc. will be as an individual, only other way is to incorporate. I just hope that the person was correct, as I'm going to sign up real soon.
