My dev partner is a secondary school teacher. So we plan on going further down the route of education apps by making some revision apps that play as games.
Do you think it matters too much sales-wise which charts you put apps in? I was thinking being in the less competitive ones is better. i.e not in games > action
Not sure with the less competitive categories. I find it harder to get good ranks from the start in the educational and kids categories, but get ok long term sales.
In the arcade and action (and puzzle to a certain extent) it is kinda all or nothing. If you rank well then you do well quickly, if you don't rank well you sink to nothing in no time at all.
Yesterday we sold 296 units, most of which were for the iPad.
Rough moneys for the day look to be around $450. The Mac version has come out now and is currently ranking very well as well.
USA - #6 educational #13 kids
Canada - #2 educational #5 kids
UK - #2 educational #3 kids #52 All games #159 Top Overall
It's nice to be in a top 10 US chart with Angry Birds!
