I am a happy Pro user. And from day 1 I have seen millions of posts regarding GS pricing of the 500 a year and its complaints of being to high. There has been so much back an forth over this issue. And it hit me the other night. Why not raise it to 600, and charge 150 every 3 months. This way GS keeps it at 500 for yearly subs and 600 divided quarterly for those who cant afford 500 up front. GS will continue to get the amount of subscribers their 500$ plan is doing. Plus pull in a few more who want to use game salad on shorter time frames. I wouldnt go monthly for obvious reasons. But 200 for 4 months or 150 for 3 keeps people on schedule and on track. I think it would bring more users. Before anyone says it. I know you can make a awesome game without pro. This is just an idea that would give people the courage " to climb over the fence" and eventually go full pro. And catch up with us who just paid the 500 and jumped over the fence. More types of subscriptions means more money.

Actually, you bring up a very good point. I would definitely subscribe if this was an option, I would love to try it out and hopefully become an annual subscriber.

Good idea Jeff. (*cough* gamesalad uppermanagement should read this! *cough*)

The issue I see with that is I only need to pay $150 when Im ready to publish. So GameSalad may end up with less money. Cause what is I only publish one game a year. Then GameSalad has given me all the pro feature for a fraction of the cost of everyone else. And I don't renew until next year when i'm ready to publish a new title.

Its kinda the same idea as buying car insurance because you had a wreck. Granted its a little tough to get away with that but its the same idea.

I could see each user can have a one time Short subscription to get the taste in their mouths but not just offering quarterly subscriptions.

I think what GameSalad should do is get rid of free to publish and have two subscription plans:

    Basic:
free to play with and develop game
    some standard features
    $99/yr to publish game

    Pro:
    standard features
    In App Purchase
    Game Center
    etc..
and lower the price to $299/yr

I honestly hope they stick with the model as it is now, as there are much scarier a la carte models out there. And if they add in-app and android, it makes it a great value (if you look at other engines it's apparent that they did their research).

I think pro means that you intend to commercially pursue something, and in that case 500 is fair for iOS and android.

If they keep supporting it and get me all the features i need without getting crazy with the price, id renew.

The only thing that has ever came out of a thread like this is arguments. Im gonna move it to suggestions since thats what it is, but close it as well.
