Are HTML5 games able to be displayed outside of GS Arcade?

Hi there, I haven't fully understood how to publish a game to HTML5, but it seems like none of the games are going outside of the GS Arcade, is that right?

If I wanted to get a game sponsorship from Addicting Games or some other side that supports HTML5 web games, how would I go about choosing that as an option.. seems like my only choices are iphone, iPad or OSX.

I am giving a presentation to an interactive fiction writers group and wanted to be clear on how the HTML5 options work if they were interested in using GS for their storytelling.

Thanks!
Caleb

It's hosted on GameSalad Arcade, and you can embed it into websites from there. You get a embed code if you choose to allow embedding when you publish to GameSalad Arcade.

can you make the game private.. or restrict it to only external sites? I will test it out soon, but I didn't want to accidentally make a game that's not ready for the world go completely public.. or make a bogus test game making noise in the arcade.

Say for example.. someone wanted you to make a game for them.. but they only want the game to be seen/played on their web site..

One thing I'm interested in is simple a way to have the game on a web page for artists, testers and co-designers to test and give feedback without having to install the game on an iphone for user feedback.. etc.

The fact of it being hosted on GameSalad website gives there website a higher rating in search engines when people come to play it. You loose out on this for your website and it's your own game. That part I don't care much for in GameSalads marketing technique.

yea when they say HTML5.. i assume it means i get handed the actual game files so i can talk to sponsors like Addicting Games or others about sponsorship deals, etc..

I would totally understand if this was an option that becomes available with a pro license.. but requiring the game be public AND must be displayed on the GS arcade is not really a good model for anyone wanting to monetize a web game..

Well, the good is users have options. GameSalad is not the only HTML5 / iOS game editor and there are more currently being developed. There seems to be a big craze in HTML5 and iOS games. But I still prefer executables that run on my Mac or PC. They run smoother, I don't have extra resources such as the browser killing my cpu or memory, and I get to keep them.

very true. yea i'm more interested in iOS apps... but HTML5/web is important for client work.. especially.. but i know GS isn't ideal for all solutions yet.. maybe someday it will grow to that point.
