Acceptable Framerate for Adventure game?

Hi, I'm working on a point-click style adventure game.

My frame rate is at about 35fps on ipod4.
Since its an adventure game I don't think this is a problem (there are no moving actors etc. and just a few looped animations set to run at a low 6fps).

Would this be seen as a problem by anybody / apple?
Also - what would the framerate likely drop to on a 3g device?

The Recommended for EVERY game is above 60, however, I Think that above 50 would be fine.

35 sounds a little to low.

    Cheers MagoNicolas,

I'm just wondering why this applies in the case of my adventure game since there is nothing on screen that requires a high framerate.

Essentially its just a still image - that is replaced with other still images depending what button you press.

    - also, a film runs at 24fps, so why does it matter if we're running below 60?

I wonder what sort of frame rate other point-click games are running at when using many large images with their scenes?

Maybe you are right, haven't done that kinda of game.
Just test an Ad hoc build, and see if there is any lag or not.

If you have no log and the things you have to do, then you are ok.

    Cheers.

Thanks Mago. Well I hope I'm right - but I'm not sure either.
The Adhoc build runs great on my ipod despite the frame rate - but it worries me to see it low.

Anyone with experience with these type of games please chip in if you have any opinions.
    Cheers

My game's (The Train ep 01 and 02) frame rates are at about 50-60, on iPhone 3G. But in heavy scenes (with animations, moving actors), they can drop to 35 FPS on the same device.
But on iPhone 4 both games are very smooth.

Basically you should aim for as high as you can, but 30fps is more than enough for a point and click adventure. If you look at console games, very few games are actually running at 60fps, most are only 30fps like gears of war 1, 2 and 3, battlefield 2 etc.

60, I know a couple that locked the frame rate.

I'm going to take another look at optimizing image usage further - but I'm running out of ways to get the frame rate much higher now.

NextGen > what do you mean by locking the framerate at 60? Is this an option in GS?

TheGamer > yes I agree with you completely... but probably because thats exactly what I'd hoped people would say!

Anyone know how these framerates would translate to a iphone3, 3G device?
