Does GameSalad protect us from this kind of bottom-feeder?

I just stumbled upon (hey - good name for a Website) this article - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14682700 - and thought others may be interested.
Sounds like the company concerned have acquired the patent rights to certain processes/methods of performing functions and are then telling app developers they need to license these patents from them or face going to court.
Since GS is logic and rule-based, and the compiling is done by GS, I think this means that we are protected from this kind of extortion (too strong a word?).
