Retry button problems

I have 3 scenes: main menu, game, then score page with a retry button. I need to make the retry button take me to scene 2. I know how to do this but I have lives that need to reset when scene 2 resets, but they are not resetting. The only way I can figure out how to reset it is if I reset game which takes me back to scene 1 (main menu) any help?
