Thanks Photics... I downloaded SoundStage, captured some videos and then went to edit them - found that imovie wasn't importing mpgs because they aren't dv files! Now I have to go through some ridiculous transcoding nonsense... you wouldn't get this with Adobe or Windows Movie Maker. Thanks for "just working", Apple.

I have edited Sound Stage Videos in iMovie I think. Don't remember the process I used though. But I don't remember anything odd about it.
Screen Flow is another good One I have started using. It allows you to be able to record the audio from your mac with out workarounds like quicktime or soundstage require.
Is also Allows you to edit you videos from inside the recording software some. I don't know if you can do everything you could with say after effects or iMovie but it can do a little there too.

Sound Stage makes files with an .mpg extension.
You can change this in the finder to .mov and then import it (via menu: file => import).
