How to lock direction of actor?

My actor moves left and right only (thru 2 control buttons), when I press the down button it starts an animation n then a timer that moves it all the way down to the floor and then back up to its original position.

Now, everything works fine until you press either left or right while the whole animation/going down action is happening. It throws off the balance and messes up the initial action I had set up when you press the down button, leaving the game useless and you have to restart the preview.

My question is, how do I lock the actor so that when it's doing the down action, the left and right buttons are left useless, that way there's no possible chance of messing up the direction of the actor until it returns to the original position again.
More like deactivating the left and right buttons when the down button is pressed and then reactivate them when the actor is back at the top again.

It worked perfectly. Such a simple solution, still hard for a newbie like me. You're the Man.

    Thanks
