I use Photoshop and Illustrator CS5. I also have a Wacom Intuos 3 9x12 and I love it! If you are starting out on Photoshop, just search up some tutorials, and move onward from there. You'll get the hang of it. I love doing Photo manipulations. :-)

That's exactly the position I'm in, I shall be getting the intuos 4 and adobe design standard cs5 (illustrator and. Photoshop)
but overall. photoshop > every other bitmap image editor. but if you're into digital painting then some people would probably argue that Painter is better (which it is in some aspects)
I use Fireworks CS5. I can almost do anything you can do in Photoshop in Fireworks. I know that doesnt seem likely but i can. I have used it for like 7 years now, so i have found workarounds for most things. Also its easier to render animated gifs and slideshows in Fireworks.
youve been told this a bunch of times in your threads already, but ill say it again. Its not the program its the artist. Just pick a program learn it and make your creations. This threads been goign for weeks now, if you would have just picked a program and been practicing the whole time you would have some knowledge and a little skill already in your program of choice.

I can only second this opinion... I have been working as a game artist for 20+ years and have seen programs and systems come and go... in the end you don't care what the tool is, it's your experience and your ability to put an idea onto paper or the screen that matters...
Take a dice/ toss a coin/ throw a dart blindfolded... just pick one program and get started... learn to use it and when you reach limits look again for other tools... but keep in mind that the limitations might not be in the program... and please don't think using photoshop filters is creating art... good luck!
