Hello everyone!
So, new game time. Sort of.
Yay!
But, er, it's not finished yet.
And I can't tell you anything about it.
And I only have the main menu screen to show you!
That's a bit rubbish isn't it?
But I announced this game on Twitter over the weekend, and so I thought I'd do the same here
So, as the title suggests, the game is called "Sunshine - Here comes the Sun".
Here's the main menu as promised:
" />
The menu's are based off Tshirt's 'Cut the Rope' template, which is very nice. I've modified it of course, but kept most of the graphical style as it suited the game
See the Sun in the middle there? That's you! You play as the Sun!
No, really!
Other things you can expect:
8 levels
Retina graphics
Chiptune Music
Unlockables
Fun (maybe!)
Something quite possibly original :O
I actually started this game about 2 years ago, when I first started using GameSalad. I was on holiday and was inspired
After that, I got a little help from tshirt and Orbz on certain aspects of the game (thanks guys!).
About a year ago, my friend Dan (who's worked on a bunch of 'real world' titles, including the Art Academy series on the DS) finalised the look and feel of the game with some lovely graphics!
Then I recently spoke to the lovely Damien (arandomday on the GS forums) and he helped a huge amount making lots of lovely graphics to enhance and add to what I already had!
Thanks Dan and Damien!
So anyway, I came back to this game after .Matrixx. Mainly because my dear old mum doesn't have the reaction times anymore to play my games. So I thought I'd make something simple for her. I think she likes it (but then she's my mum. She likes all my games! Bless!)
But also because while the game is simple, it has some interesting ideas in it I think.
I literally have no clue how it will be received. Whether people will like it or not. If it'll sell or not.
I do know, though, that my Mum likes it. And sometimes that's enough!
I'll update this thread with screenshots and videos as I get closer to release. I'm thinking of waiting for GC achievements before releasing it, which we'll hopefully get at some point this month.
Anyway, there you have it! Hope it piques your curiousity!
Cheers everyone!

that looks amazing cant wait to see some screenshots of the gameplay..
cheers mate
It's weird. I like it. I've been pretty much playing the same one test level for two years, with additions and changes here and there.
But still, I'm not sure. Some people that have seen it have loved it. Others appear indifferent or confused. It's a weird one :O Every part of that sentence scares me :O Thank you mate - it's partly your insistence I finish it that's kept me going with it! I'll do my best to get you a test build by the weekend! My friend Dan designed it, and he's a big Nintendo/Japan fan - so he went for the extra cute look! I hope others like it too! Thanks!
Cheers everyone! I'll get another screenie out as soon as possible - may show an early level select shot as it's quite nice

Looking forward to seeing what it looks like in-game
The sun looks exactly the same in-game - but it's mainly very simple flat colours all the way through to give it a fairly off-beat look.

I don't trust the face on that sun, he's got a hidden agenda.

Not sure what you are doing with the graphics beyond this screen, but with a different font it could look very deco. I'm not aware of many/any deco style games. Think it is so far from the thoughts of most gamers that has yet to really come up much. Suppose there might be a few things influenced by Metropolis, but the more 20s/30s advertising art styles. Bakelite buttons and knobs... Just a mull. Good luck and don't be distracted by lurking fish.

But I can't decide whether that's a nose on the sun or a mouth :P
Cheers!

Good luck! I look forward to seeing some gameplay. ^_^
What I love most about this game though is that I can say "I'm working on Sunshine" followed by a "Woo ooh yeah!" and then link to a youtube vid for those that don't get it!
Like this!
Sing along now!

I don't want to come across as harsh but if the gamesald guru's start putting out half baked apps then kind of example does that set for the rest of the community?
