image blur on images posted in topics

embedded images in posts get a slight blur. not by much, but enough to ruin a piece of artwork. it does this even when its not being resized. try embedding an image with 480px width and then open it up in a direct link in whatever web browser you're using. compare the 2. 480px isn't too wide for the forum as it seems to start down-scaling at 550px width..
