well unfortunately this isnt the best place to get game ideas. All our ideas were saving for ourselves (at least the good ones anyway)

I suggest you play a ton of flash games to gather ideas, elements, gameplay ideas, ect.

I normally get a lot of my game ideas from deep thinking. Think about something that you have always wanted to play on the iPhone, but its not in the App Store. That might be your idea.

Or go outside and get some fresh air, look around you for inspiration. A lot of inspiration could come from your visual surroundings as well.

    Hope this helps,

    -Matt

Yes quickly look through the 800000 games on the app store to see if the one you want is already there or not. I d recommend not trying to play the free versions. Just take a deep look at the screen shots and decide.

I wouldn't say Benjamin_m5 is "in the wrong business". He might simply be (or will become) a great specialist in a very diverse enterprise. For example, there are lots of people with great ideas, but are not very skilled with a game engine (and might never be). There are also lots of people with great technical expertise, but who find it difficult to come up with an original game idea, theme, motif, etc. There will always be experts in game design vs. game development.

Its great when the synergy of game designers and game developers create a work of art -- a really innovative product. And its great when a single individual possesses the skills to do it all -- but that is a rare individual.

Personally, I like to work with GameSalad because its such a great game in and of itself! I really enjoy just figuring out how to make it work. (And it works very well!)

Totally agree with the last lines. After finishing my first game I really used to miss the whole process.

I meant that you can get ideas about getting ideas but not the ideas themselves. So i thought it was obvious that if some one would be giving away a brilliant idea, he would think in the middle of it....umm.... i m such a moron....why shouldn't i make this my self? I 'd really recommend watching 'Microsoft training by Ricky Gervais". Insanely hilarious!

Ethan Cohen of the Cohen brothers was asked by a journalist how he knew what to make his characters say. His response was. "That's the best bit. You can make them say anything you want!

Lie down and dream, and if that don't work, don''t try any of the list below.

marquis de sade platformer (leap from bed to bed, making Venetian society blush)
doodle curry night (while grabbing beers, you avoid samosa, chillies and your share of the bill)
spot the astro turf (a difficult find the image game set in a football stadium with most natural grass)
hide the sausage (a simple game best left to imagination)
How long does it take for a snake to digest a donkey (a game now possible with access to the device clock)
match the matches (use stock images of matches to build a match game)
A google apples (in which an infinite number of apples spawn more)

old_kipper you should do those lists more often :)

I had an idea for two great nasty games after looking at your list. Even though I highly doubt they would ever pass the Apple review process...

Mmm... who knows... Maybe someday I will make them.

    you did ask...

Viking Wobble (in which fast tapping causes nuns to slap huge jellies with cricket bats to unseat Nordic warriors)
Holiday in Hell UK (fight off gulls with a shopping bag as you try to eat cold chips while sitting on pebbles, in the rain)
Kinky Boots (bend rubber boots to add creases and score)
Which Wican Witch's Wig Wiggled (can you burn or drown the bald dark arts practitioner?)
Smells like Teen Underwear? (Spot decomposing pants and socks in a panoramic shot of a bedroom floor{I actually think this could be a cult hit...})
Bio-Hazard 38 ( in which you feed take away meals to 38 baboons at a government testing facility in the hope of discovering the cause of food poisoning, and while avoid them putting on too much weight, developing diabetes, or nachos finger staining)
