How to change attribute types

Okay. I need some help. I want to change an attribute from a text atribute to a integer. I have no clue how to do this. I tried editing the xml but it didn't work. Can someone help me!

your gonna have to jsut delete it make the new attribute and go threw everywher it was switching it out with the new one.
