How to do a smooth drag??

Hi,
I am trying to do a smooth drag. I know how to do this technique (http://cookbook.gamesalad.com/#question=4d9e11ec5e76e160530003dd) however I don't want the object to center under the mouse position when i first touch it.....I am using larger objects so I want to be able to touch the corner for example and drag it along in a smooth fashion. Please help!
