Working with people under 18?

There are a lot of very talented members here that are under 18 offering services for hire, so I was wondering how people were protecting their assets when doing so.

I have stayed away from working with a minor due to what my perception of the law was. (a person under the age of 18 can not enter into a legal contract and if they do they can rescind the deal at any point and must be given back what they produced)

I have seen many projects (now for sale in the app store) where a good portion of the levels or the game were created by a minor. So how are people protecting their assets?

    Personally I protect myself by avoiding any situation where a minor would own me money or I would be purchasing anything from a minor. Project help and template sales would be my only monetary contact with underage users and they will alway have to pay up front.

    Yeah, no offense to our younger members, but I personally wouldn't deal with a minor in any fashion when money was involved.

    With all the company names members use I tend to forget that some of these are minors offering services for sale. I know several minors offer level building services and those games have made it into the app store. That just seems really risky to me. If the minor or the parent recind the deal and you had them build levels for your game, how do you work that out?

    Just wondering if I was missing something. Some of these guys are so talented, you wouldn't guess they were 14 or 15, especially when they use a company name and talk about marketing teams.

    Many members are minors but some dont really let people know they are minors. I recently almost got scammed @$100 from one via paypal, later learning he was a minor. In a cash transaction ask if they are a minor or not.

    I believe the law is different here in Holland. So perhaps hire Dutch minors. I have workt legal and under contract since I was 15 yeas old.

    In the US you can work with minors if they emancipated and have legal proof or sign the contract with their parents.
