ok so im makin an app that is to go as quick as possible, only 1 screen, and the options. mute and junk all appear thru attribs and destroy actors.

is there any rule by apple that you have to have a splash screen of any sort for identifying your app? or even the app title? my name pops up you make the mute and background select pop up, then destroys when you cancel that.

With BOT, I just have the splash screen and then it goes straight into the main base. Options are accessible from the pause menu. Apple didn't seem to mind.

Well, if you don't specify a splash screen (or can't because you don't have pro) then the GameSalad splash screen is automatically inserted. So, I just made the splash screen my title screen.

I think that's a big difference. Even if Apple doesn't reject the app, that's not really good design. Although, I think I played a game like that. I think it was Lord of the Rings on the XBOX. I remember a game where I just turned it on and then I was thrown right into the action. That's rare. It's standard practice to have a title screen. It's like a book without a cover.

yeah for a game i do =], but this is an app to help people in situations where speed will make them use it, loading times will make them not use it lol. thats why i did away with the splash. in fact im thinking of going pro just to get rid of the game salad splalsh too. i dont mind that in a game. but this app is based on speed. but as long as apple doesnt have a rule stating we need one, then i guess im good =]

    thanks Photics

I think there is a rule, but I'm not certain. I think if the app hangs at launch, they might reject it. Since you seem to be looking to reduce loading times, you're following along with Apple's intent for apps.

I think it works like this... there should be something immediately on the screen at launch. If it's a blank screen, with a loading pinwheel icon, Apple might shoot that down.

I would put a splash screen for sure. Have your studio logo as the splash screen it is an opportunity for some branding.
