I have tested my HTML5 games in IE9 on a windows7 computer and they work fine. The problem is that there are millions of machines out there still running XP which is now 10 years old. I imagine as an attempt to get people to upgrade to win7 microsoft has made IE9 incompatible with XP. So if someone has XP they will have to download firefox or chrome to run HTML5as IE8 does not support HTML5. Basically microsoft hasn't been able to make a decent OS since XP (if you call that decent) and now we devs are paying the price.

Heh... actually... yeah. I think Windows XP was great. It's 10 years old and still in use... even on my Mac... http://photics.com/madness-microsoft-windows-on-my-mac-mini

As a web developer, I liked it when 90% of the world was using the same browser. If I wanted to do something fancy, I just used Flash. It's not like HTML 5 is so revolutionary. It's supposed to be more compatible... but it's not. If it was, pages like this... http://www.html5test.com ...wouldn't be necessary.

Although, I am surprised to see that even IE 9 has a pretty lousy score. (It is a big jump from the previous version though.) I think that will hurt the company, as it gives reason for people to use another web browser.

Desktop tried was macbook pro using safari and all the others on windows 7 latest versions of the browsers

I bought the cheapest PC at BestBuy a few weeks ago so that I could test my HTML5 games. It came with Win7 (obviously) but it had IE8 for some reason. So I had to DL IE9 and update IE. After doing that it works. Are you sure that your Win7 machine has IE9 and not IE8?

Not sure, but I DLed IE9 just a couple of days ago. If it helps you could go to www.sciTunes.com and click on games to see if those embedded games work for you (I know they work for me). Right now I have two GS HTML5 games embedded on my site.
